Lao New Year—2009 Year of the Ox, April 18, 2009. The Lao New Year celebration this year was celebrated at Furama Restaurant and was a huge success for the Lao Community! There was a traditional Lao clothing fashion show, a kids fashion show from a designer of children clothing, Ms. Kareen Powell. One of our newest board members Mr. Michael Nanthavongsa hosted the event along with Ms. Jesse Le and Ms. Saysamone Putnam. They did a wonderful job helping to make sure the event went smoothly; coordinating with all of the guests, shows, cultural dances, band, raffles, awards, guest speakers and raffle.
Our Guest speaker at the event was Dr. Edwin Silverman, Chief Bureau of Refugee and Immigration Services at IDHS. Also our guest Mr. Kripal Zala, Director of council on Asian American Affairs, gave a few words to the Lao Community in honor of the New Year. Three awards were given at the event to Mr. Norasing Kethdy, Dr. Edwin Silverman, and Ms. Christine Singvongsa to honor them for all of the services they contributed to the Lao Community throughout the year. ໃນວັນທິ 21 ເດືອນມິນາ 2009 ທິ່ຜ່ານມານີ້ ສມາຊິກສູນບໍ ລິການມວນຊົນລາວ ພ້ອມດ້ວຍພີ່ນ້ອງລາວຈາກນອກເມືອງໄດ້ເຂົ້າຮ່ວມພິທີ ປະກາດ ສນັບສນຸນກິລາໂອລີມປິກ ໃຫ້ໄດ້ຈັດຂື້ນ ຢູ່ ຊີຄາໂກໃນປີ 2016 ທີ່ໃກ້ຈະມາເຖີງນີ້. ເພື່ອສົ່ງເສີມປະເພນີລາວ ນາງສາວ ຄຣີສຕີນ໌ ສີງວົງສາ ໄດ້ອອກສແດງຟ້ອນນາດຕະສີນລາວ ເເລະທາ່ນນໍລະສີງ ເກດດີ ໄດ້ໂຊຟີມື ອອກເເບບ ປາ້ຍໂຄສນາຂນາດໃຫຍ່ເພື່ອໃຫ້ຊາວໂລກຮັບຮູ້ວ່າ ຊາວລາວທີ່ຊິຄາໂກ ມີຄວາມພາກພູມໃຈເເລະສນັບສນຸນກິລາໂອລິມປິກຢ່າງເຕັມລ້ອຍ.
